Nelson Mandela Charity Supported in SL (46664)

There are few icons of humanitarianism and selflessness who, are as charismatic and well loved as Nelson Mandela. This simple, peaceful man whose deep convictions have transformed the political map of South Africa and given hope to countless numbers of the worlds poor and disadvantaged that a better world is possible.

Having just turned 90 this year and having “officially” retired from public life, who could deny him spending the last of his days enjoying the sunsets and walking the hills of his beloved South Africa? Well, a one Nelson Mandela for a start. Still he champions the plight of those less fortunate than himself and as vigorous as ever. One such charity 46664 (Mandelas prisoner number when he was incarcerated on Robben Island in 1964 and on which he spent 27 years of his life) has the aim of raising awareness of the worldwide epidemic of HIV/AIDS. To educate the younger generations in particular. By gaining global backing for the cause, the charity will also raise funds to directly assist the many HIV AIDS projects the charity support.

So it was to my absolute delight to be invited by a good friend of mine Francesca Cassini to take a look at her and Kaiya Manbi’s contribution to this very worthy cause in Second Life.

They have created a gorgeous and peaceful Island full of chill out areas and beautiful views. All very much in the style of the chillmeister himself Mr Nelson Mandela. The centre piece of the Island is one of Kaiya’s distinctly African builds, a house aptly named “Madiba” which translates to father. In the three floored house you will “feel” Africa in the textures and the exhibits. There are donated items for sale on all three floors , pictures, furniture and clothes. All proceeds go to 46664. At the entrance there is also a donation box.

So, I totally recommend you pay a visit to this very worthy project by Fran and a great team. Spend some time chilling and perhaps reflecting on your many blessings and perhaps even supporting the great man himself in a very important cause. Click Here To TP
